Achieving Your Potential Part 10

Motivation is a Latin Verb; “MOVERE” meaning to move. It is an intense drive that causes action, or a reason to act, or behave. Need is a lack of something good and a drive is a tendency to act, in order to fill that need. I hope you’re seeing if you have to, you’re going to be unhappy, but if you want to, you’re blessed beyond measure.

Romans 8:13 (KJV) says, 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

 Romans 6:6 (KJV) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Gal 6:16 (KJV)  And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Do these verses motivate you to die out to self and life for God?

ACHIEVING YOUR POTENTIAL PART 9

Can we see the importance of self denial and subduing the flesh in order to achieve our potential? The strongest verse in the Bible I think is Col 3:5 (KJV) 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: To Mortify is taking the natural urges of man and resisting those areas that will sooner or latter destroy our character.

That is the reason we need to know what to lock on to, positives and lock out the negative areas of our life. Once we lock on to a principle, opinion, belief, or an attitude, we find it difficult to see or understand the truth of Gods Word. It is not what I think is the truth, or we develop scotomas, or blind spots, to new information. This then makes change difficult because of past experiences, and when the Lord wants to bless us in every area of our lives we can’t accept that truth.

Notice the attachment to friends, vocation, social prejudices, life styles, and habits some times cause no growth. That is the reason we need to choose our friends wisely, are they going to bless us, or damage our reputation?

What is very important is to see the things that we need to lock out, that hinder us from seeing the truth. List them:

Now look for some areas you need to lock onto, in your personal life, vocation, and social life. List them:

Achieving Your Potential Part 8

This week we were able to spend time with Ginnys (My wife’s) 2 Sisters, sister-in-law and two brother-in-laws at Terra Del Ray in the Oregon Coast. We stayed in her Brother and Sister in Laws home and were able to really relax and give some time preparing my heart for ministry. I am amazed at how God blesses us as a family and just want to continue to praise the Lord for the opportunities He’s given each of us to become better acquainted.

I certainly understand the need for others in my life and enjoy watching what the Lord is doing for those we personally know, as they grow in there potential. I understand every day just a little more Romans 3:10-18 (NKJV) There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."
13 "Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit";"The poison of asps is under their lips";
14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."
15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known."
18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."

I hear so often we are saved by grace and I say sure, but doesn’t God love everyone? Yes. That is the reason we go into prisons and jails ministering to the people that are lost in societies of the world, to bring them the good news of God’s grace extended to them. He is saying, come unto me all you that are weary and heavy burdened, I will give you rest. I have to accept His grace, His mercy, or I’m not forgiven. Lord help me to understand every day, moment by moment, I need your leading for my life, if I am going to achieve my potential in you.
