Heb 7:5-6 (NKJV) And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham; 6 but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. Abraham was the one that appointed the priest and here they were the only ones that could receive the tithe from the people. The Priest keep 10% of what they received so they could continue on ministering without having to work. So the Priest that came about because of Abraham where blessed by the people now we see Abraham giving of his tithe to Melchizedek as some one greater than he was. Abraham received a blessing from Melchizedek who was a representative of the Messiah, the promise seed, showing it was through him as the high priest of the human race, that this blessing was to be given to all mankind. Today the people with in a church are asked to give unto the church and the church becomes responsible to care for the needs of the body of Christ. We are seeing mega churches with millions of dollars given to them weekly and yet the Church is having a difficult time ministering to the needs of the body of Christ. Only the Lord knows what is required of us, but when we have the attitude of Abraham we begin to see the hand of the Lord at work in a mighty positive way. It is amazing to me that anyone that gives is blessed in material ways as will as physical ways, but those that give in the name of the Lord are blessed in body soul and spirit. Lord help us to understand the power of giving to the Lords work. Heb 7:7 (NKJV) Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better. We have an illustration here how man sinned in Adam and fell from God grace. Then in the Old Testament a animal sacrifice had to be made but in the New Testament God Himself gave us His Son, that whosoever believed in Him should have everlasting Life. That is an act of grace restored to those that call upon the Lord for forgiveness and mercy. His love is the same yesterday, today and forever, to God be the glory. All we have to do is accept the gift of eternal salvation as the High Priest gives of Himself to us. God is much more blessed than mankind when we honor His word and obey Him. So God is greater than any Bible character, even the High Priest Abraham and Melchizedek. |

Heb 6:19 (NKJV) 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, Can you see the value of this Hope which we have in the Lord, just as an anchor of a boat driven by the sea. The term anchor is used often as something that is very necessary for the future of the Church. The Church is still the only building the Lord said he, will bless as we assemble in it. What is sure and steadfast in today’s society, nothing but the Love of the Lord. It can’t be said of just anyone but only those that have accepted the Lord as personal savior. Can you begin to see the kindness of the Lords wanting to help us become anchored to the rock of our salvation? You have no doubt seen the ships in the harbors and the heavy chains that tie them to the piers. Then when you look closer you see the anchor that keeps the ship sure and steadfast during the rushing tide or currents. The Lord knows exactly what we need to prevent us from drifting into trouble, as we commit our lives completely to Him. We are seeing many turning away from the Church in these last days being shipped wrecked in the storm of life. Now is the time to put down your anchor and hope that God presence will lead you through the storms of life. Adam Clarke's Commentary The storms of life continue but a short time; the anchor, hope, if fixed by faith in the eternal world, will infallibly prevent all shipwreck; the soul may be strongly tossed by various temptations, but will not drive, because the anchor is in sure ground, and itself is steadfast; it does not drag, and it does not break; faith, like the cable, is the connecting medium between the ship and the anchor, or the soul and its hope of heaven; faith sees the haven, hope desires and anticipates the rest; faith works, and hope holds fast; and, shortly, the soul enters into the haven of eternal repose. Lord help us to renew our minds every moment of the day and become protected by the everlasting arms of the Lord from the enemy of our souls. |

Part 26 HE-BREWS 6:13-14 13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." God has given us many promises and no one is going to be able to say, He doesn’t care. Can you imagine the faith Abraham had to have going to the mountain side to offer his son Isaac? Yet Abraham had faith in God because of how he was tested before Isaac was born. He fell for taking another wife and Hagar bore Ishmael and we are suffering yet today, but yet God promised if we are not willing to accept the truth we will suffer the consequences. The Lord created us to be a blessing to all He created, especially mankind, but who is getting hurt more than anyone else He created? Is it not mankind through out the world. Lets not be satisfied until we are blessed in all we do and say. Matthew 5 is what is promised all, if we would but accept these promises. Heb 6:15 (NKJV) 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. To be able to have patience and the ability to endure is not humanly possible with out the help of the Lords presence within our hearts. Abraham is not having faith in himself for he knows how weak he is, but with Gods blessing he is able to endure life to the greatest degree.
Heb 6:16 (NKJV) 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Everyone that lives on planet earth knows what it is like to see nature in a beautiful way. Yet many can not accept what is happening around them for they like to be in control, but thank the Lord, man is not in charge and no one can be greater than God. No one can argue with God and if we do we are going to lose. I like the fact that God is in control and He gives power to leaders and those in authority if we trust in the Lords leading. We are seeing our courts so full that it is taking years sometimes to settle cases. Does not the Bible say we should deal with wrong quickly, so people do not linger in bitterness that totally destroys character? |
