    Thanksgiving

Here we are celebrating Thanksgiving remembering where we came from, England and how delighted we were for the help of the Indians. Who were able to talk to these English men, prepared them a feast and taught them how to plant and grow crops? What a sense of love shown to them by strangers in a new land. That is cause for thanksgiving, for these Englanders were in need of help. Many starved and got sick from the journey to the Americas, but God had a people reaching out in mercy and grace.

I am personally great full for being able to honor Thanksgiving as a National Religious holiday. It is the Lord that gives one the ability to even be thankful for all we are, or hope to be. Today we have so many types of religions and people who proclaim the thought they are right, in not honoring anything to do with Gods blessing those early settlers to this new land. But God is still the way, the truth, and the life and no man cometh to the Lord, but by Jesus, God Son. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit that lives in each man, women and child as He breathes in and through us, as humans. Just as everyone has to breathe to have life, so each one needs to have the breath of the Lord, going forth from there lips, to testify of Gods love, mercy and grace. Thanksgiving is the heart of Christianity and it is love in action, as well as in word.

Who ever thought that Rick Warrens book the purpose Driven Life and Church would be so popular?

Who every thought that Star Wars, Dungeon and Dragons, the Mystics, Harry Potter, and now Narnia would be so popular?

Sorcery, Divination, Necromancy and other sources of magic has a fascination that Christians are warned to not become involved with. Could it be that it makes our imaginations run wild and we fall for a lie? Thinking that it is good, but become very addictive, as it takes the place of God. Like any other addiction, we can’t see the lie and we expect different results and they do not come. That is insane thinking, but the truth.

Here is a web site that covers the life of C S Lewis very well and it seems like he talked and wrote much about the seven deadly sins. Pride-Greed-Luxury hate and lust-Gluttony-Envy-Anger-Sloth. He wrote one chapter about Pride in, “Mere Christianity”. The writing of, “Screw tape letters”, talks about lust and pride. In “Great Divorce” he talked about greed, slothfulness and lust. In Narnia he mentions in each book the seven sins.

I trust we do not become wrapped up in Hollywood’s impressions and influences to where we are deceived in thinking they know the truth. Only God is able to give us the insight, we need to stay away from the evil that is all around us to day. Matthew 24:12 and because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end shall be saved.

Lord help me this Thanksgiving to count my blessing and rejoice in our heritage as Americans founded on Christian principles of loving and caring for one another, and may I continue to care for all I meet.

Blessing to you and your families as you all draw closer to the Lord as families.
