Acts 3 Acts 3 is going to show us the miracle of sermons to confirm the doctrine of healing that needs to be preached. We are going to see how the ground is broken up to where miracles are possible. A man born lame at birth and the impression it made upon in people-The scope of the sermon to bring people to the Lord by repenting of sins as they believed in the Lord. Acts 3 King James Version (KJV) 3 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. Peter and John were not fresh from receiving a special blessing as they have been filled with the Holy Spirit and able to see many signs and wonders done by Jesus and now the Apostles as the Spirit gave them direction. Peter seem to be the speaker many times and got himself into trouble and here he is with John who seemed to have loved the Lord the most as he rested his head on Jesus Shoulder. So Luke the Author here is describing what he saw from these brother in the Kingdom of God. I remember when we used to use the phrase Brothers and Sisters when we gathered at the Church or saw another Christian in town. Brother how are you a real kingship. A term used to denote a true friendship. Now remember it was Peter who denied the Lord and here John who loved the Lord the most is joining up with his friend Peter for ministry. Lord help us. To work together regardless of who we are, for we need to be joined together with Christ. For they have been to the temple worshiping and praising the Lord and where filled with reverence, worship building up their faith and hope in praying to God to obey His will. We need to catch the importance of spending time with God in prayer for His will. Do we have time to pray and worship together as a Church? Today we need people that are interested in serving the Lord by drawing closer to the Lord as a group of believers so they can be endued with power from on High. We all have time and God gave us the Church to become a part of, so we can draw closer as a body to Him and one another to make a difference in our world. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Here we see this lame man who was born without the ability to walk a cripple not by accident, but by birth. Here he is at this beautiful gate begging from all passing by for could work at making a living. So someone laid him by this gate where people came into and out of the Temple. It must have been a busy place for the Temple was very popular where devout good people came to worship the Lord. He knew our alms and Charity needed to go together. He no doubt knew who Peter and John where. 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. Now remember they where just filled with the Holy Spirit so where ready to minister to whosoever wanted life abundantly. 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. Here both Peter and John stop to minister to this beggar by looking and asking in return you look on us. Should our eyes be upon the Lord so we can receive His compassion to care for ones needs. 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. When we pay attention to the needs of people, we can begin to give what God has given us, when we are all prayed up we are ready for sharing our hope. We are living in a area of fear, doubt and distrust and need to listen to what is going on so we can give hope in a hopeless situation.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. The apostles here did not have a surplus of money but what they had was more important than money for they just had receive power from the Holy Spirit that needed to be shared. So here they are rich in the treasure of heaven that money can’t buy by giving a cure for his disease that money could not buy. Here Peter says what I have, I give to you. Rise up and walk in the Name o Jesus Christ. It is never I that heals and saves, but Christ that enables us to act by faith. We are so weak as man in fighting ot addiction of the lust for sin what we can’t heal or stop from sinning but Gods Spirit when we trust Him and abide in His does a miracle in or lives so we can begin to do God wants us to do. Yes he needed help so Peter 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. Does not the Lord empress us to rise and walk in His ways, His commandment written down in His word so we might have the power to be transformed by the workings of the Lord. All we have to do is accept the fact He is \calling out to the whole world come unto me. His ankle bones were given strength by God not Peter or John. It is Christ that does it all by giving him Strength just as the breaking of the bread at communion gives us strength and as the water is turn to blood and poured out gives life to our bodies and our crippled lives are renewed or healed. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. This was so exciting to have experienced after being lame all of his life to know because of his faith in what Peter said to him rise and walk; what I have never walked and here he all of a sudden is not only walking but leaping with excitement. Lord help us to be excited for what your doing in our lives by faith in your grace, so we can have the joy of the Lord. Here he did not have to learn to walk he leaps for he is cured by God almighty healing power. Has God given us strength to become devoted to His will and stand in the gap for other that they might see the glory and wonder of Gods gifts of healing of body, soul and spirit so we are leaping and shouting for the Lords wonderful love of caring for His own. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God: When people are excited about anything they are noticed by the excitement in their voice. So he is seen by all as he goes in to the temple walking and praising God with a loud voice. 10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. Are not people looking for the miraculous today in our land of crises after crises that is destroying society. Lord help us to see souls saved and delivered from sickness and diseases of sin so we are amazed at what God is doing. It is not what has happen in the past that affects us the most, but what is happening in the now. Notice the bodies five senses were healed his eyes saw the wonder of leaping, his earsheard rise and wall, he smelledthe miracle of healing old past and new had come. His mouth praised God for a miracle. He feeling where alive with all kinds of emotion that could not be contained. So his soul was new he did not stay crippled his imaginationwas real, his consciencewas alive and not dead, his memorybecame new as he never experienced anything this wonderful, His reasoning was completely new as now he understood reality and he never knew such affection for his own body and His Spirit came alive knowing it was Faith and hope in God as now he reverenced and worshiped the Lord who answered Prayers. Lord help us to see the wonder of your love all around us and your grace that is extended for us to believe in the promises of your word. |
