Matthew 1:18-25
Christ Born of Mary 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being [f]a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is [g]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name [h]Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and [i]did not know her till she had brought forth her[j] firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus. This is a Mystery how Jesus was born of Marry for it as a secret that the human mind can't understand just like the bones are formed in the womb of a women, even David marveled how his Mother conceived him. Here Mary is espoused to Joseph not married, but under a contract to be married, So Marry was honorable among all women as perfect as she could be being accepted by Joseph to become his bride. So Mary was justified by God to have the birth of a son named Jesus not from a harlot, but a virgin Marry. Joseph was a just man a holy man shocked by Mary saying, she was going to have a baby from the Holy Spirit. Remember she had a friend Elizabeth with whom she lived three months before giving birth Luke 1: 56. Today when a person comes to the Lord they show it by actions and behavior that is good and glories for they are becoming holy. This was a very humbling experience for Mary for she could of fallen under the curse but she found herself innocence as she keep calm abiding in the vine! It is important we keep our consciences alive pure and holy so we are ashamed when we do wrong and ask the Lords forgiveness to be made whole.
Now Joseph was troubled for he knew it was not because of him, and he knew the thoughts of men and women and did not want to be cursed so did not become jealous to want to be mad at Mary 1. He avoided making her a public example. He was a thinker that gave himself to protecting Mary as he was a just type of person knowing who he was, where he was and the impact their lives where going to have in the area. So he wanted to put her away privately not destroy her reputation but protect and preserve. It is said Christian love and Christian prudence will hide a multitude of sins. So he thought on what happen and was being made manifest. God is always present to help us in the most difficult periods of life and an Angel of the Lord appears to him. Thank the Lord for ministering spirit that God has ordained to encourage and provide comfort to us during the most difficult time in life. I was Stricken with Burkett’s cancer affecting every limp node in the Body, but God gave assurance of knowing He is our healer. The most precious time of my life, knowing I was in the perfect will of the Lord and shortly during this time filling in as Pastor here at the Harrah Assembly of God. What a blessing to know your in the outstretched hands of the Lord. So Joseph was directed to proceed in marriage as God said, Joseph thou son of David, your son is in King David’s linage as a carpenter boy. Fear not to take Mary thy wife she is not a harlot a reproach, you do not have to feel guilty or ashamed. Elisabeth even said, Mary you’re the mother of the Lord. Lord help us to be delivered from our fears and all doubts so we can be assured of your presence as we abide in the vine! Mary was conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost not the power of nature. It was the Holy Spirit that gave us the world and gave mankind breath of air. When we abide in the Lord He bring a new way, life and truth. That is good wonderful news that Mary keep in her heart she did not flaunt or brag, but thought about the majesties of what was going on in her body. Jesus is a name that means savior, Joshua is called Jesus captain of Israel, one out of Canaan and Joshua the High Priest, He is able to save to the uttermost, in other words the chiefest of sinners. God wants to save you of all sins, as you work out your salvation with fear and trembling. No more guilt it is washed away in God forgiveness and forgetfulness. He separates us into Himself so we are not or own, but bought with a price the precious name of the Lord. Lord help us to see we do not need to fear, or be alarmed today as lawlessness is abounding and our world seems to be on the verge of collapsing in lust for sin, yet God hands are outstretched to us still to come! Mary and Joseph knew who they were and did everything possible to make sure the emphases was not on them, but on God. This Christmas may we as a Church focus on others who have not yet heard the good news Jesus saves and want us to come humbly before Him in repenting for out lack of dependency on the Lord, for without the Lord we are nothing, but lost sheep going the wrong way. I trust as you gather with family your able to tell about what God is doing in your life that is a blessing to you and all around you. God gave us the greatest gift known to man as we abide in the vine, what a narrow minded thought, for grapes grow from one vine and it produces many cluster of grapes. Look at all the Churches in our area and you see Christians in each one for they are also abiding the vine: JesusMay this be the best Christmas you have ever experienced as you give up and let God rule and reign in your life! |
