Paul wanted to make sure the will of God was done in his life so bad he was not able to think like he should of, so the people who were in charge agreed to take him Rome, note what happens!
Acts 27New King James Version (NKJV)
The Voyage to Rome Begins
27 And when it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of the Augustan Regiment. So, entering a ship of Adramyttium, (a ship which bought African good tolthe area)  we put to sea, meaning to sail along the coasts of Asia.  Many time in life we are so determined to have our way we forget reality. They have now set sail for a long journey under the authority of Julius a centurion of Augustan Regiment or Band or legion where before he was under Cornelius a Italian Band. So now he us in the care of someone that was very human and they had Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us. And the next day we landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care. It amazing how God takes care of His own and Paul was blessed as he was able to have freedom to come and go whenever he wanted for remember he wanted to meet with the head of the Roman Government so he was not going to want to escape. I don’t know how many times I heard of prisoners who wanted to escape. But not Paul he was an ambassador all the time. Here we see other prisoners with Paul and nothing is said rather they had the same treatment as Paul. Paul was singled out has being different and had freedom not afforded to many I am sure. Paul was surrounded by wicked men that gave him a reason to act and do what he was doing for he relied on God for his safety. When we had put to sea from there, we sailed under the shelter of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary. Are we not see the winds blowing like never before and causing fire to burn out of control causing billions of dollars of expense and the hurricanes cause untold agony around the world. So when winds come we have to face reality and face the vividness of destruction and that is what the captains of any ships have to do. And when we had sailed over the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia. There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy, and he put us on board.  Alexandria was the chief city of Egypt that carried corn to Rome according to history and other goods so there were many of ships. So Julian decided to change ships to make it safer.
When we had sailed slowly many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, the wind not permitting us to proceed, we sailed under the shelter of Crete off Salmone. Passing it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea. What a place to be on the ocean during stormy weather, for it is slow going under such tempestuous conditions. They finally arrive at a place called fair Havens where they could escape the storms. Do we not need a fair haven today where there is peace, joy and Love abounding? Yet fair haven was not the ideal place to winter in, for it was still exposed to the weather. It was about the 20th of September when the yearly fast was observed, a time to afflict the soul with fasting for what was taking place within the land as they faced strong winds.
I think we are living in a time when we need to encourage people to fast that is denying one of eating to show we are totally committed to beseeching Gods control over what is going on. Here in our area we are alarmed by the amount of crime going on, that our laws can’t seem to make a difference to curtail, or stop; so we need to fast and pray for the safety of all our citizens that justice will be done. Then we need to pray and fast, for our youth to see the need to communicate with God so they can find peace and how to manage time spent on the Smartphone. It seems like the storms of life are destroying families and causing dysfunctionalism to where who cares? Then we see entertainment demanded to make us happy, when our happiness comes as we abide in the Lord and relax and let God do His work.  Isiah 58:6 Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen; to loose the chains of injustice and unite the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressor free and break every yoke? Then Joel 10: 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion declare a holy fast call a sacred assembly, gather the people consecrate the Assembly bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast all weep before the Lord to spare your people and make Your inheritance on object of blessing not scorn. So I trust you, in your day will spend some time just fasting and praying for our community that the addictions of sin will be able to broken and people will be set free to worship, reverence, have hope and faith in God to answer our needs in prayer.
Paul’s Warning Ignored
Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them, 10 saying, “Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives.” 11 Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul. 12 And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to set sail from there also, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete opening toward the southwest and northwest, and winter there. The time for fasting was over and the stormy time was more violent and Paul was given a message by God to speak out and warn them, that the ship was going to meet with disaster and suffer much loss even our lives. Now here we are in this big world that seems to be headed for disaster as college students are not pay off their loans and some are suggesting we erase this indebtedness. Our Banks are finding people are not able to pay off their indebtedness and our Country can’t seem to pay on their indebtedness. So our Federal Reserve just prints more money and the cycle does not stop, How far can we go? Who knows how long it will be before our currency stops and we find the economy in the hands of the Anti Christ.  Then our Government is so out of order something has to happen, will it be a new world order? Yes, it is coming headed by China and Russian and the European nations. Then look at religion and how justice shown to God is not present, for we have accepted anything goes and that demands a religious head that can assure us all, it is going to be dealt with as the Anti Christ becomes the one who controls the Governments and the economics around the world. Are you seeing the storm clouds gather covering the whole earth? Paul saw what was ahead and warned them but it was not heard. Paul you’re not a sailor you do not know the power of navigation, your just in for a ride. Those know not what danger they run themselves into who will be governed more by human prudence than by divine revelation.  Lord help us to see that our imagination times vividness needs to equal reality that is godly not worldly.
In the Tempest
13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their desire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete. Here we see them feeling comfortable and feeling it was safe even though they knew the history of the area they stayed close to shore. 14 But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon. This was like a whirlwind which meant trouble[a 15 So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let her drive. Here we see the ship is helpless and caught up in the storm kind of like Johnna was caught up in when thrown in and caught up in the belly of the Whale when he was running away from God here Paul is not running away from God, but getting ready to see the hand of God do the impossible.
I feel like society is being caught up in the most turbulent time of my life, as we do not know who to believe or trust, for we have the smart phone, that is causing people not to communicate in person to better ourselves, but on line spreading rumors and lies. This is causing right to be wrong and wrong to be right, and people losing identity and committing suicide, for we have nothing to live for of value.

16 And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda,[b] we secured the skiff with difficulty. Can you imagine the fear that was present when they had to lower the mast and give themselves to the sea, no guidance, no control? That seems to be the case today no one is able to bring peace and people are in a state of shock and do not know what to do. Anyone doing good is put down for doing good and that is lawlessness abounding. We have taking off all righteousness and accept the storms of life as normal it will be ok! 17 When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis[c] Sands, they struck sail and so were driven. Here they are working at making sure all was secure and safe and yet being driven by the wind. Lord help us never to lose sight of who You are, where You are and what Your able to do when we yield to Your love, mercy and grace. 18 And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. Being tempest tossed they lighten the ship, meant you’re going to be more like a cork on the water. I feel like we have thrown out the Bible and prayer, back in 1963 and we are at the mercies of our creator and need to trust and obey Him more than ever. Abortion and murder is rampant and we see more unsolved mysteries than ever, even where we are able to track what is going on more than any time in history. 19 On the third day we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands.  This happens so easy for we do not know the value of what we have until it is needed, so here we see them now really helpless and at the mercy of the Lord. 20 Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up. What is going on is beyond them and what we are seeing today in religion government and our economic is totally to much to try to comprehend and people seem so helpless fighting all the addictions we have today that is drowning the life right out of us. We can’t see the light and darkness is at the blackest I have seen, and many people are giving up to evil with no will to do what is right and wholesome.
21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. Here Paul is showing himself as a pastor or minister with some good advice you should listen to me. Should we not listen to ministers that are preaching the Gospel of Goodwill and peace today, so we are prepared for what the enemy is going to throw at us?  Many people today do not know how will off they are as they are traveling through this world, doing all they can to sever and worship the Lord even when everything is going on to destroy life in the harbor. 22 And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. God is able to rescue anyone that listens to His spirit. Paul is urging people to listen for the storms has gotten their attention. I hope today people are listening to the sounds of the storm.  23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, 24 saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Paul is showing who he is putting his trust in, for God has never left Paul and he is in tune with the angel of God. He knows who he is and wants the best for all 266 that are with him on the ship. Let’s be mindful of all the people that are not in tune with the Lord, so we keep doing all we can to encourage as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit of God.

25 Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. 26 However, we must run aground on a certain island.” It is so easy to let fear control us but Paul is letting them know they are going to be protected from the dangers of the storm for God is still reaching out to rescue. Thank the Lord He does not change and is still interested in everyone in our world and wants to see all saved. Safety is ours as we trust and obey even yet today. Yes even though we are living in a time of war threating our lives God is going to return for His own the Church.
27 Now when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land. Those who know the power of the storm are well aware of its danger and here for 14 days they are tossed on the sea and the waves are roaring taking them closer to land and nothing can be done to prevent it. Like today it seems no one is able to stop crime and lawlessness for it is out of control. 28 And they took soundings and found it to be twenty fathoms; and when they had gone a little farther, they took soundings again and found it to be fifteen fathoms. Here they are getting shallower very fast knowing it is just a matter of time until they hit the rocks. 29 Then, fearing lest we should run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern, and prayed for day to come. Here they have no choice, but to drop anchors to make sure they did not continue to be forced into the rocks and hoped and prayed all would go well.  30 And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, when they had let down the skiff into the sea, under pretense of putting out anchors from the prow, 31 Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.” What a picture of panic for they could not think, but just try to survive on their own and Paul gets the attention of those in charge and lets them know everyone need to stay where they are in the ship. Now that was very difficult for many had committed in doing their thing, just like today people do not care and are headed for disaster. Yet, the Church, is still abiding and resting in the vine; Jesus for His hands are outstretched still. 32 Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the skiff and let it fall off. Here we seeing the boat is their safety net and now they are cutting all anchors and turning the boat lose to crash on the rock hoping they will then be taken to shore. People today seem to be getting rid of everything that is of importance and not needing any cover from the righteousness of the Lord and innocent people are getting hurt.
33 And as day was about to dawn, Paul implored them all to take food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day you have waited and continued without food, and eaten nothing. Here these men were caught up in the emergency of life and food was not a necessity for appetites were gone, they were all fearful of becoming dead. 34 Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” What a picture Paul was wanting them to eat and earlier he tried to get them to think about what they were doing sailing now in the winter. Strange until people listen, they are not going to hear the truth and be set free. We have ears, but can’t hear, eyes, but can’t see and mouths that can’t speak and a nose that can’t seem to smell good from evil, then our feelings are bend on self and what is good for me and at we are at a all time high, suffering from depression and low self-esteem.  35 And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat. Paul knew God needed to be honored and worshipped for his faith and hope was still in God to hear and answer prayer. Prayer is communicating with your creator that wants you to have good-will and peace all the time. Paul wanted everyone to know he is blest and they needed to be thankful as a prisoner of the storms of the Sea, they needed to be thankful so communion was a fitting time to show others his commitment to God. He ate, showing them there is a time to make sure the body is strong and can survive any storms of life.36 Then they were all encouraged, and also took food themselves. Lord help us all to be encouragers today as we are seeing evil overtake the goodness out of use as people love their addictions of sins, 37 And in all we were two hundred and seventy-six persons on the ship. This is no small vessel and for anyone or business to lose such a loss was terrible. Do we not have many that are lost and do not want to be found and our world is sinking in the cesspool of life. 38 So when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship and threw out the wheat into the sea. This is getting rid of substance that is of no use now for they have no need of food. Lord help us to know the value of food for it is substance needed to keep our bodies healthy so hear it is discarded as useless.
Shipwrecked on Malta
39 When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible. Here the merchants know the coast lines, but here they did not recognize anything but saw a spot that look safe so headed toward it. 40 And they let go the anchors and left them in the sea, meanwhile loosing the rudder ropes; and they hoisted the mainsail to the wind and made for shore. Here we see them working to make sure they were all going to be ok. Does it not take work to stay out of trouble, and keep in line with God.  I see people to day working at getting into trouble more than working to do what is right. Here everyone is doing all they can to survive not knowing the God is in control for remember the Holy Spirit told Paul all was going to be will.41 But striking a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the prow stuck fast and remained immovable, but the stern was being broken up by the violence of the waves. What A picture for they saw a good place but God did not let them get their way and they landed on the rocks and the ship is pounded by the storm and breaks apart quickly. Lord help us to realize every day, God is wanting to direct our way, so we know the truth of His word and yet people are driven by the affairs of the world and today our Governments, economics and religious institution seem to be on the rocks and it is only a matter of minutes before a crash.
42 And the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. What dedicated men and to think they wanted to kill people that were helping them survive the storm, is just like the human nature, for we can’t see the value of one another. Today we are seeing the same things happening as people want to destroy prisons and people that are serving the Lord, confusion reigns.43 But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, 44 and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. But the person in charge of the prisoner Julies took a liking to Paul and it is proven now, he commands everyone to escape, knowing that most of the prisoners want be tried for their wrong. Julies was showing that God was ordering all that had happen and gave everyone the opportunity to escape not run, but be saved.  And so it was that they all escaped safely to land. What a testimony for God is not going to be mocked and wants the best for us all the time. I hope you’re a person that realizes it is because God created us, He wants us to worship and reverence Him and let Him give you that. hope and faith as you abide in Him, to see your prayers answered. You are alive, so make sure you belong in the arms of the Lord that are outstretched to all, that call upon Him for Help!
