Life
is so precious when we begin to walk in the light as we learn to abide in the
vine; Jesus. For He empowers us to overcome all the sins that would so easily
beset us, preventing us from walking in the light of God’s love. We are sinners
saved by God grace, not man’s. So, we are always admitting we are sinners that
are poor without abiding in the Lord. The first step in becoming Gods is. 1.
Admit we have a need. Mt. 5:3 We all
have a Conscious need- we are poor- needing help as our pride-does not want us
to admit we need salvation. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs
is the kingdom of heaven”. Thank the Lord we
need to work every day as we are not our own, we need to breath the air and eat
the food and get the rest needed to stay alive as we work at life. Now we are Christs we are redeemed, or bought
back and He has a plan for us to restore us, unto Himself, so number 2 becomes
possible. 2.
Restoration is possible. Mt. 5:4 mourn
for sin that is feeling bad ashamed and we cry at night or even during the day
for the sins we so easily commit. –Boredom becomes a part of our lives and we
become addicted to evil behavior and attitudes as compassion is not accepted,
instead we become bitter and the Lord wants us to love obeying Him to become
restored as if we had never sinned. “Blessed are those
who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” When
we are abiding in the Lord, He lets us know in our conscience, we did something
wrong, so we repent as soon as possible. Convictions are
real and we need to feel bad when we do what is wrong for it hurts you and
those around you. So, convictions make me and condemnation breaks me. So, I am
going to make sure I go Gods way. 3. Decide to turn your will over from bad to
good. Mt 5:5 Meek-is certainly not weak, but strength knowing we are needing growth-
if growth is not present, anger become a part of our lives to where we can’t
control our behavior, or attitudes –concentration is needed to make sure we
keep our focus upon God and His will for our lives. “Blessed are the
meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Thank
the Lord we are what we are because of God’s love, mercy and grace, He has
given to us all. Meek is not being weak, but accepting the fact we need help
and that help comes from the Holy Spirit of God. This all happens when I
realize I have to be faithful to God, for He is my strength and I know it by my
experience with Him. So, I am always taking a look at what I am doing. Which
leads to step four. 4.
Make a fearless truthful moral inventory. Mt. 5:6 Righteous should be our
goal always for without it, we will not be successful over addictions of sins-
apathy-Let’s not fall asleep as many are doing today, let’s be aware and awake
to the wages of sin, giving us the ability to see what attributes to God’s
truth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they shall be filled.” It is as we look at imagination, times, vividness we are
able to live in reality that is a blessing, for we are eating healthy food,
“Not garbage in, but garbage out.” We are seeing obesity more all the time, for
we live in the land of plenty. Help us to make sure we are hiding the world of
God in our hearts so we do not sin against God and our fellow man. Now we are
at the place in our lives we are beginning to grow in knowledge and
understanding, as we gain wisdom to just obey the Lords will and not our own.
Then we are able to practice step five all the time. 5.
Admit to creator and to ourselves and to others the exact nature of wrong. Mt.
5:7 Merciful-it is not my brother or sister, but me O Lord. That is being
transparent- seeing ourselves as sinners, undone, needing help and not ashamed
of it. Bitterness leaves for we are now in love with God and all He created and
pray for our enemies. Then we can see Transformation in our attitude and
behavior that becomes better and lovable all the time regardless of the
circumstance. Forgiveness Bring a release of emotions that cause bitterness and
hostility to flourish. “Blessed are the
merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”. If we want to be a blessing we need to forgive others and
pray for our enemies, so we can be healed and become transparent. We all have
problems and need to show and tell others we are not perfect yet, but are
striving to become better and better to not become bitter. This really means, I
am beginning to see the success of achieving my potential in climbing the
ladder and not resting till we get to the top.
6. We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Romans 12:1 "I plead with you dear brothers to give your bodies to God”. Let them be a living sacrifice, Holy - The kind He can accept." This is a life time process. Progress not perfection. This is a lifelong process. It is progress not perfection. We discovered our defects in Step 4 Mt 5: 8 Pure is what make one healthy and wise so we experience, purity- that is having Christ like Spirit 7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, and purify us from all unrighteousness." Lord may we see Satan does not sleep for he is out to deceive us from knowing the truth.1 Corinthians 6: 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. We are not afraid to admit to ourselves and others the exact nature of our wrongs. So, we let God have His way and will and realize it is God that removes as we now have the Holy Spirits power to help us resist wrong and evil of all kinds. It’s not being perfect it is becoming better and better by humbly admitting our short coming so God can remove them, no so we can remove them by stopping what is wrong and evil. Now we come to step eight which is so hard for us all. 8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. Luke 6:31 "And as you would like and desire that others would do to you, do so to them." Be care you do not make matter worse, sol be very careful you do not hurt or get yourself into trouble, remember you may have to make a call. Or if they have passed away or can be reached write a letter and then tear it up as if you gave them it in person. 9. Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Matthew 5:23-24 "If you are offering your gift at the altar and suddenly remember a friend has something against you, go and be reconciled to that person." We have come too far to turn back now. We pray about whom we can make direct amends to, we ask God to direct us. We have to make amends face to face where possible. Sometimes it may hurt another person to make a direct amend, therefore; we may write a letter to God asking for forgiveness and healing of the other persons. (An example might be infidelity). This would be injurious of those involved. We become reconciled to ourselves, others and God. We are feeling a purity in ourselves. Isaiah 1:18 "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Psalm 103:12 God will remove our sins as far as the east is from the west. We begin to feel self-worth, self-respect, dignity, honor, and love for self and others as we get the burdens off our shoulders. We are no longer controlled by our secrets. We have moved from the darkness into the light. This is a beginning of a new life for we are becoming more and more like the Lord. He is empowering us to accept our responsibility to God self and others and we begin to have to ability to have the courage to face life for what it really is, a journey through the world of sin and shame know the Lord is going to forgive and forget all our sins as we ask Him to and we are clean and holy to move up the ladder of success. I trust as your reading this your realizing this is a constant dependency upon the Lord as your abiding in the vine; Jesus so He can give you all the support needed to continue becoming better and better so bitterness is not a part of your life. |
